I have been wanting to try Le Brunchic for quite a while but I was always deterred by the high prices and long line.  The only locations I have ever seen is in the IFC Mall that is located on Yeoido, but apparently they have another location in Sinsadong.  The atmosphere in this place is like a factory style brunch place, kind of like the Starbucks of brunch places.  It is great for all occasions including dates, friends or colleagues.

The food in this place was absolutely amazing.  I had the salad which came with nice pieces of steak on it and a great dressing and we also ordered the vongole pasta.  The pasta had a good number of shellfish on it and was also very good.  My issue with this place was how expensive it was relative to the portion sizes.  The salad was quite small despite being quite expensive and we went to another place immediately after to eat another meal.

This place has excellent food but is not cheap.  If you are looking to do something special or earn lots of cash then by all means go here.  If you are on a budget, I'd recommend checking somewhere else out.

Kanival Pizza is a huge chain pizza place with locations throughout Seoul.  The atmosphere in this place is pretty cool in that they have a lot of booths and tables which makes it feel a little bit like America.  This doesn't exactly seem like something you'd see in America though and it definitely has it's own twist on the atmosphere.  It is a great place to go with friends or on a date.

The menu in this place completely changed.  Originally this place was really expensive and had all these strange fusion pizzas.  One of the types I recall was a tikka masala pizza which was surprisingly delicious.  However the pizzas now are much more reasonably priced and much more standard.  This is in fact an excellent place.  Not too expensive and great quality food.

There is one thing that you should be aware of though.  The pizza comes with red pepper flakes on it which are quite spicy.  The next time I go I am going to ask them not to put these on the pizza.

HamHeung NengMyeon 함흥냉면 - Chain

Hamheung Nengmyeon is an excellent little cold noodle place with several locations mostly in Bundang and Seoul.  The atmosphere in this place is similar to just any factory style Korean place where there is a whole lot of customer turnover.  It is not classy and it is not trashy.  It just looks like a normal place you'd go with your friends, your family or your company.  It is an all occasion generic type of place.

I have been to this restaurant several times and I have never been disappointed.  The food is consistently good and everything on the menu is high quality.  They are famous for their cold noodles which are excellent and for 500 won extra you can add a serving of jellyfish to them which is unique and adds a nice touch.  I also frequently get the dumpling soup which is also very good,

Ana Bunsik is a tiny little Korean style fast food restaurant that is located in Hongdae's Yeonnamdong.  I have seen this place several times but I had never had the chance to check it out.  I had imagined that it would just be like any other bunsik place and probably not all that good, but I was definitely pleasantly surprised by this place.  It is one of the better bunsik places in the area.

I was sick the day that I went to this place so for something easy on the stomach I ordered the kalbitang.  The broth was excellent and it came with some huge pieces of meat in it.  My friend ordered a roll of kimbap which was also delicious and unique in that they put the rice on the outside of the seaweed making it look a lot like Japanese sushi.  This was also absolutely delicious.  If you are looking for a cheap meal in the area, Ana Bunsik is a great place to try.

The Beastro is an extremely classy American place in located right next to the park in Hongdae.  The atmosphere in this place is like a very expensive date place and there are tons of people working there.  It seems like the type of restaurant that would be in a hotel in the west.  Most of the servers are westerners who speak Korean fluently.

The prices on the menu definitely reflect the class that this place offers.  Given the portion sizes it is probably one of the most expensive restaurants I have ever been to in Seoul.  Most of the menu items are 20,000 won or more and the portions are some of the smallest I have ever seen.  I believe I finished my meal in about three bites and I may have been full had I ordered about four of them.  Immediately after eating here we went to another restaurant to fill up because this place was far too expensive and the portions tiny.

That being said it is some of the best Western food that I have ever had in Seoul.  The food is absolutely amazing.  I ordered the fish and it came with a creamy sauce that was absolutely excellent and was laid over barely rice.  The fish was cooked to perfection and the rice and sauce blended perfectly.  We also ordered fried chicken which was a little sour and not too crunchy like normal southern style fried chicken but also had an excellent flavor.  It was served with mashed potatoes and a biscuit both of which were delicious.

The chef in this place is highly skilled and if you have money to burn then there is no reason not to go blow a ton of it on a meal at this place.  If you are on a budget this place is not for you.  The portions are tiny and the price is high.

Little Papa 리틀파파 - Hongdae 홍대

Little Papa is a pho place that has been rapidly expanding through Hongdae.  They started as a little shop a while ago and now have three locations that I know of which is quite impressive.  It is easy to see why this place is expanding so rapidly.  This is easily one of the best pho places that I have been to in Korea.

The thing that really stands out to me about the soup in this place is the broth.  The broth is sour and flavored to perfection.  There are also generous helpings of meat that come with the pho and plenty of bean sprouts and onions.  This is easily one of the best Vietnamese soup places that I have been to and the price is reasonable as well.

Standby Kitchen is a small sandwich place that is located near the back gates of Idae.  The shop has a tiny little storefront and the seating is all in the basement of the restaurant.  They make primarily sandwiches, but they also have fries and salad as well.

I have eaten a few of the sandwiches from this place and all of them taste great, but the portions are way too small for the price.  I generally need to eat at least two to get full which makes the place far too expensive.  That being said the ingredients are fresh and the sandwiches taste great.

Burger Hunter 버거헌터 - Chain Burger Place

Burger Hunter is a chain burger place that has a few locations throughout Seoul.  The original location that I used to frequent was near Nonhyeon station, but I believe that it has closed down.  The locations that I know of are mostly located in shopping malls.

The burgers in this place are large and decent and they are not too expensive.  They come with a huge patty and a large slice of cheese as well as decent vegetables.  I have tried several things on the menu and I have enjoyed all of them.  This last time I was sick so I opted for the pasta as opposed to a burger, and I also enjoyed the pasta.  It came with a large meatball and tomato sauce.  It basically tasted like something you'd make for yourself at home.

We also had an order of onion rings which were ok, but not really all that great.  I wouldn't necessarily recommend ordering these.

Brick Oven Pizza 브릭오븐피자 - Gangnam 강남

Brick Oven Pizza is one of my favorite pizza places in the Gangnam area.  The original location is closest to sinnonhyun station, but is also near gangnam station and is up on the top of a little hill where next to a bunch of other good restaurants.  This is a great location, but be aware that they only sell full pizzas and do not do pizza by the slice.

The only other location that I am aware of is in gosok terminal and this place does have pizza by the slice which is really awesome because there are not too many pizza by the slice places in Seoul.  The pizza is really great.  We had the pepperoni, bacon cheddar as well as one other this time around, but I have been here several times and have never been disappointed.  Go and give them a try!

Sealala 씨랄라 - Indoor Water Park in Yeongdeunopo

Sealala is an indoor water park that is located between mullae and youngdeungpo in Seoul.  This is a really cool place because it is 100% indoors which means that it is possible to go even when the weather is not good enough to go to an outdoor water park or when it is raining.  Also the entrance fee is significantly less than most of the other water parks in and around the Seoul area.

You walk into a large building and pay the fee, put your shoes in lockers then walked into areas that separated by sex with lockers for your clothes, showers, spas and saunas.  After you change, you go into the water park.  There are three spas right at the entrance with different fruits and flowers in the water which are supposed to be healthy.  Then there is a huge area with a mushroom waterfall you can go under, tons of jets and things to lay on as well as a river with jets that will push you around the edges.

There are a few different slides.  One is a tiny one for really small children and there is a slightly larger one which is also only for children.  There is a larger slide as well which anyone can ride but it is not always open.  There is a children's area near the slide and two separate cafe and dining areas within the water park.

In the bathroom there are about four spas all of different temperatures and a cold pool.  There are also three saunas.  Two of the saunas were humid and in the 40s Celsius and one was dry and in the 80s Celsius.  There are also plenty of showers, a bathroom and an area where you can dry your hair with lotion and all the normal stuff you'd find in a bathroom.  For an extra fee you can also go into a jjimjilbang area where you can sleep and hit more saunas, but I have never been in there so I don't know exactly what it is like.

Sealala is a great place at a reasonable price and I highly recommend checking it out.

Choi's Tacos 초이스타코 - Sinchon 신촌

Choi's Tacos is a small Mexican place that is on the main drag in Sinchon.  I have been to this place several times and I must say that the food tastes good, but there are a lot of drawbacks and many other places that are much better than Choi's.  These days the only reason I go to this place for my Mexican food is because they are lightening fast and as such it is a good place to go when you are pressed for time.

The food in this place does not taste bad, but it is definitely not worth the money.  It is expensive and the portions are small.  Regardless of what you order the portions are not large enough and you will for sure have to order two things unless you don't eat very much.  On top of all of this there is nothing in this food that seems that it should cost all that much.  The burritos are mostly rice with a bit of chicken, cheese and salad.  They also charge for water which I find annoying as well.

This place has been around for a long time and seems to be quite popular which is a bit of a mystery to me because there are many better places than Choi's.  This place is good for a quick bit when you are in a rush, but is certainly not somewhere that you need to visit.

Bread Comma despite the ridiculous name is a really cool cafe that is located in Hongdae's Yeonnamdong.  Yeonnamdong is a really cool growing area with a ton of cool restaurants, cafes and bars.  You should definitely check out this area is you have not already.

Bread Comma has two locations that are right near each other.  The first location is a book cafe that has books all over the wall and tons of space.  This is one of the widest cafes that I have ever seen.  It is a cool atmosphere as does the one that is right down the street.  The second one has really high ceilings and a second floor where they sell specialty teas.

The thing that really stands out about Bread Comma is the cakes which are absolutely delicious.  I have had the tiramisu, the grapefruit cheesecake and the chocolate brownie and all are absolutely delicious.  These are for people with a real sweet tooth as I do.  They do not hold back on the sugar in this place and that is just the way I like it.

Come check out this cafe and have a couple of the cakes the next time you are in Yeonnamdong.

Taco Loco 타코로코 - Sinchon 신촌

Taco Loco is one of my favorite restaurants in Sinchon and is one of the top Mexican places that I have been in all of Korea.  There are a few other places that I really like and Taco Loco is among the best.  Since I live in the neighborhood you will see me eating at this place quite often.

I have tried just about everything on the menu, but my personal favorites are the burritos and enchiladas.  The avocado chili burrito is one of my personal favorites because it comes with a ton of ingredients that all come together to make a delicious meal.  All of the enchiladas are also excellent and have generous helpings of sauce all over them.  Another good side order is the french fries with sour cream.  A unique dish I have never seen before but makes an awesome combination.

Be aware that the tacos in this place can be ridiculously spicy to the point of not even being able to eat them if you are not good with super spicy food.  Additionally, the portions can be a bit small and I have noticed in recent times that they have gotten smaller.  I have been ordering two things every time I go here in recent history which has left me a little disappointed, but the quality of the food has not changed and it is always delicious

Ground H is a brunch cafe and juice bar that is located in Hongdae's Yeonnamdong down a little alleyway that is filled with excellent restaurants.  Many of these are featured on this blog, but there are a lot of places that I have been to as well that also look really great.

This place serves brunch as well as a variety of other foods all day long and has a huge juice menu.  A lot of the juices are really healthy and contain vegetables and greens as well as the normal fruits that you would find in a juice blend.  We did not opt to try any of the juices, but I look forward to going back here and trying some in the future.

We ordered a huge salad that had a ton of interesting ingredients.  The salad contained avocado, bacon, shrimp and cheese as well as salad greens and other vegetables that you would normally find in a salad.  The dressing was also quite good, but the thing that was really stellar about this salad was the interesting mix of ingredients.  The shrimp were well marinated and the bacon added a special touch as well.

We also had the Bacon Eggs Benedict which was in fact just an ordinary Eggs Benedict.  I was expecting bacon, but it came with the standard Canadian bacon that you find in Eggs Benedict.  The bread was also a slice of normal bread and not an English muffin that you would expect to find in an Eggs Benedict.  Despite this, it tasted like a standard Eggs Benedict and was quite delicious.  It also came with a side salad which added a nice touch.

This is definitely a really cool restaurant that you should try if you are looking for a brunch place.  It is also not as busy as some of the other brunch restaurants where you may need to wait in a long line.
