Chogajibdubumaeul 초가집두부마을 - Fried Fish and Tofu in Sinchon

Chogajibdubumaeul is a restaurant that serves fried fish and tofu (순두부) in Sinchon. It is a pretty typical restaurant, but the food is quite good so it makes it onto the blog.

The atmosphere in the place is very restaurant like. It is the type of place that you might image going for a quick bite to eat on your lunch break from work with coworkers. It is fine for all occasions, but doesn't have any bar or party like atmosphere that some of the other restaurants on here do.

I used to eat at this place all the time, but I have been cooking a lot more recently so I have been going less. The food in this place is really good. A decent amount of sides come out, they serve you black rice instead of white rice and fish is really nice. My favorite is probably the jogigui (조기구이) due to its buttery flavor. The samchi (삼치) has huge portions so that is good if you are hungry. I have actually never had any of the soups, tofu or set menus, so I cannot comment on those.

Gosami - Fried Fish in Sinchon

I have tried several of the fried fish places in Sinchon and one of them stands out above the rest due to its awesome atmosphere, low price and generous portions. This place is of course Gosami. Gosami is located in a place that is a bit difficult to find for people who are new to Sinchon, but if you use the map locations below, you should have no trouble.

The atmosphere of Gosami is like that of the bars that are open all day in Spain. It is busy and action packed. You feel like you would have no trouble drinking here even in the middle of the day, but you also wouldn't mind bringing someone here to discuss business. It is a hip, trendy and all purpose type of place and it is quite famous in Sinchon as shown by the photos of famous people who have eaten there covering the walls.

There are a few different types of fish that are served at this delicious restaurant, and despite the fact that the price may look a little high for one, it is enough to serve two easily. Most people order both a fish and a soup and split those between two people which makes Gosami relatively inexpensive. I usually get the Samchi which comes with a massive portion and I vary the soups which are all of good quality.

Gosami is a fun place to take your friends or family and I recommend it as one of the best fish places I have eaten at in Sinchon.
